A Sweet Surprise
Meet Lyla Callahan, a pint-sized philanthropist who dedicated a whole day to raising money for AHLF by selling cookies and lemonade. This sweet girl and her family fell in love with the magic the Discovery Center inspires when she participated in Discovery Camp this summer and wanted to do something to give back.
Lyla proved you are never too young to make an impact on your community as she not only brought smiles to everyone who visited her stand, but also our staff when she came to deliver her donation. Celebrating her hard work with a cuddle from Rosy, we cannot thank her and her family enough for reminding us that even the smallest gestures of goodwill can have a tremendous impact on our communities.

But what could have been a setback turned into a shining example of community in action. Our team didn’t miss a beat—grabbing rags, acetone, and supplies to scrub the graffiti away. Volunteers jumped in without hesitation, tracking down materials and lending elbow grease to help restore the space, allowing California Watersports to keep doing what they do best. Moments like this highlight what Lagoona Kahuna is really about—rallying together, stepping up, and showing up for our neighbors. It’s not just a cleanup—it’s a movement.
