Kids Gala 2024 ~ Too Cool For School

September 5, 2024

Over 150 guests joined us on Friday, August 16th to beat the heat and celebrate Kids Gala 2024! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and sponsored—your support made this event a huge success!

Winter Paws & Claws

It's not a party at the Discovery Center without interactions with our Animal Ambassadors!

Science Wonderland

Guests had the opportunity to learn all about the powers of starch and celebrate their love for science with a super fun photo booth.

COOL Karaoke

We lost count how many times these little super stars took to the stage to sing their favorite Frozen songs. Each one brought their own style and we loved to watch them own the stage.

Bubble Blizzard

This bubble show, perfect for our littlest winter warriors, brought out the kid in everyone as they chased and popped bubbles as big as giant pumpkins!

Snowflake Sorcery

Mr. Meigs delighted in revealing the sleight of hand behind each trick, spilling his magical secrets with every performance.

B-I-N-G-O with Bingo

We aren't sure who loved this more, the families playing or Bingo who got constant love, attention, and treats.

Bingo's Halfie Birthday

We invited Elsa from Frozen to bring a special cupcake and sing a "halfie birthday" to 6-month old Bingo every hour!

Frosty Faces

We were incredibly fortunate to have a talented and dedicated group of volunteers running the face painting station. By the end of the event, it was nearly impossible to find anyone—child or adult—without a sparkly unicorn or a fierce tiger proudly displayed on their face.

Everything Banana with Mr. Banana

Handel's Ice Cream banana split station with the well loved Mr. Banana AND a decorate your own banana station?! This duo couldn't have been any sweeter.

Winter Winner Opportunity Drawing

Congratulations to our two winners and thank you to everyone who participated!

Piggy & P.J.'s ~ Jenna Mortazavi

Friends of Nature ~ Kevin Smith

Snowy Snack Station

Guests recharged with an array of delicious food options from all over North County! Thank you to everyone who donated!

Ice Bar

Adults found their new favorite drinks with Gallegos Wine and Rom Brewing beers.

We like to think the sun came out especially for Sunday, as over 85 people gathered to share their love of all things birds. The morning started with a leisurely walk around the Discovery Center trail, led by birders Rick Grove and Bobby Brett . Spotting native birds in their element, with the beautiful Agua Hedionda lagoon serving as a scenic backdrop, was the perfect way to kick off the day!
